What suspension?

Postby legacydan » Fri Jun 26, 2015 1:14 am

I need to replace my old rev.A bilstein shocks running sti pinks. I was planning to go with H&R springs with some new b8's. Its a daily driver so I don't need it too low or to handle like a go-kart. Anyone have any comments on this setup. Roads over here aren't great so I need to be sensible. My other thoughts were kW v2 coilovers. But they are nearly double the price of the bilsteins.

Anything else I should consider on a daily driver thats reliable and can provide a drop of about 30mm or so?

Shock works for aud $2.2k are said to be as good or better than the KW's.
Personally, I think it's a good deal. :)

Mate, I also just did a set of Shockworx and they are the best I've driven so far. I've tried numerous combos including TEIN, Konis, Eibach and of course stock. Shockworx offer a minor drop (1inch, or more if you like) and are not harsh at all. Excellent for a daily driver. Do a search on here to see more detailed reviews. If you do lower the car it is recommended to get a set of roll-center adjusters (whiteline are good) and whilst your at it might as well get LCA bushes (e.g Fulcrum).

I think for the money the Shockworks would cost to ship and pay import duties, a set of Ohlins DFV would probably work out cheaper!

Why not do 2 or 4 seperate shipments if there's an applicable $$$$ threshold.
Hopefully the exchange rate would be favourable too.

But any quality digressive damper wins over bandaid sway bar handling fixes imho.

Iirc prova offer co-branded ohlins, mega bucks...
The Swedish ohlins distributed in the USA became a special order item.
KW's would be the affordable local option imho.
If not, repacking the billies and using swift, epic, h&r etc springs might suffice.

I decided to go for some MeisterR's since they were available locally. Probably in between bilsteins with lowering springs and more expensive variants shockworks/Ohlins

Interested to hear how there go.
Look pretty good.
Those 6 & 7kg spring rates will be firm but not crazy hard.
