Hanabi LED tail lights

Postby THERB3 » Wed Nov 05, 2014 4:09 pm

It's a sad day today as I have experience my first LED failure in one of my Hanabi tail lights.
The single LED light is blown right in the middle and not really noticeable, but it caught my attention after a long look at in early in the morning.

My question is can it be repaired or has anyone attempted this operation ?

I found a Japanese blog post how-to... Basically you'll have to shallow cut a small section into the back cover of the tail light and cut or desolder the non working led to replace it, then reseal the rear cover... I have a dremel if you need help :)

Just translate your search query into Japanese and google that.
Eg "legacy led tail lamp repair fix"
Reverse translation search using Google Translate:
https://translate.google.com.au/?hl=en# ... t%20repair

Use the search terms in google.
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=%E3% ... ent=safari

I did that, remembered the site it was on, minkara, and did a site search on that:
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=site ... +bl+hanabi

Note I was able to use English keywords here.
Always click image search to cut to the chase :)

One of the links is this Russian one:
https://www.drive2.ru/l/6166849/?page=0

Translated:

At the end of the DIY there's a few reference links including the one I may have been referring to :)
