BP rear 12v socket

Postby Shiv » Tue May 06, 2014 2:51 pm

Hi there,

My BP Outback doesn't have a rear 12v outlet in the cargo area like my old BH Outback did, and I do require one.

I noticed there is clearly a cutout where one would go...

I called Subaru and they said they did not do them for this model so maybe it was a JDM only thing? Anyone know it if is possible to retrofit one in or where I could buy a kit from?

In my MY06 outback I just cut out that and put a 12V socket like this -
Originally I ran wires from the front cigarette lighter, but when I pulled the rear
panel off, there were already wires behind...

Oh ok, so there are already wires behind?

Well that makes things simpler. So yeah all I have to do is get a generic socket and it should all be good :)

Thanks!

Yeah, I can't find the photos I took.
But basically there was just a blank wiring harness taped up in the corner...
Could be neat and find a wiring harness to plug straight in, but i just chopped the wires.
For memory it was the same type of wiring harness that the front 12V + Cigarette lighter have,
so if you can find a Socket that has 90 degree pins, should plug straight in...

Yeah man, just had a quick look at my new Liberty...
Has the same thing - Pics attached
It's is MY06 preface lift though, hopefully postface lift is the same..
As said in last post, if you can find a generic socket with 90 degree outputs,
your laughing...
