91 wagon door open light problem, any ideas???

Need help, something going on with right side doors, the indicator on the dash is saying that both doors and boot are open, and the alarm goes off every time I try to lock it to say that a door is left open, any help would be awesome!!

Faulty door light switch is the only thing i can think off.
Push the switch in by hand and see if it turns off the indicator. If not, I'd say thats your problem.

Thanks heaps when I push in the front right switch it says both side doors are open and the lights come on, when I release the button it says they are shut, it's doing the complete opposite of what its meant to

Easy fix then. Pull it out & switch the wires.

Unplugged switches, door light is working now but alarm still says they are open, if I pit in New switches will it fix the problem??

Hmm... Potentially. There might have a seperate switch for the alarm too.

Least it should be a cheap trip to the wreckers for a 2nd hand one to find out. If that doesn't work i'd suggest a trip to the auto sparkies.

Try cleaning the contacts first. I found in a few of my older cars the screw that holds the switch in acts as the earth and occasionally the contacts both between the switch and chassis and the plug got a little grimy and caused them to work incorrectly

The gear stick is floppy when in gear I'm missing the part under the gear boot that holds the gear stick in place, does anyone know what it's called?

Just replaced the bushes and it's like new:) once again thanks heaps!! New to subaru and everything is so different
