Postby phuriouss » Fri Feb 21, 2014 7:26 am

Whats up guys,
Seem to have an annoying rattle in the rear shelf compartment where the stock mc intosh sub is.
Where can I check main suspects for this rattle or is the sub rooted.
Thanks

you could also put some dynamat on the underside of the parcel shelf too to help reduce rattles.

My wagon does it too.
Tried securing the cover better and deading the surrounding area, made no difference.

A mate who used to work in the car stereo industry belives the voice coil is dead.

Thats a good point, a blown sub can sound a rattly.
Try gently pushing the speaker cone in and out and if it feels rough, your sub is blown.

This happen to me.

Play some music, gently touch the sub cone via the boot, if the rattle stops then it's blown.

Only direct replacement i could find. Corflute spacer needed ( i used an old real estate sign) but easy change over in an hour....

Theres quite a few direct replacements. Just look for an 8" shallow mount sub. Plenty out there. You also want a sub with a quick response as its an open air install.

I posted a solution that worked for me a while back. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16369&p=281258#p281258
Probably wont help a blown sub which you have, but it could help someone else
