Hello,
There's a CD jammed in my McIntosh. I bought the car like this so I'm not exactly sure how it happened. What I'm experiencing is a clicking sound four times on power up of the accessories.
Who knows how to fix this?

Common issue with McIntoss I believe.
If you have a search around this forum there is a bloke in Canberra who has the parts and expertise to fix this.
IIRC it was something to do with the disc eject mechanism that fails.

This happened to me as well after I took the stereo out and put it back in. One of the platters in the 6 stacker has probably come off its guide. I had to remove the stacker, platters, and basically rebuild the platter stack. Was a bit of a PITA, hardest part was making sure the springs didn't fall or fling away whilst re-plattering.

This is a problem in the car I just purchased. Seems to be a common problem if you search around the forums.
I believe getting it fixed through Subaru will set you be about $1k where they put in a refurbished one and get your existing one sent away.
I don't listen to CDs but it's quite annoying. Can imagine that a 6 stacker is going to be a problem in most cars with the amount of heat and vibrations a car produce.

Mmm. I have thought about getting it out myself. How much time did you spend on it?
Thanks,
Michael.

Took me about 45 minutes since I kept dropping the springs back into the stacker so had to start again a few times. But overall it wasn't really difficult (a little frustrating though).

That's not a bad amount of time considering what could be spent on getting Subaru or a car stereo company to do it.

Yo Mike, tried to reply to your PM but it's not going through. Think your inbox might be full.

I am currently trying to repair my unit in an 04 liberty. I cannot remove the spinner off to the side to get the platters out below it. Have looked on nasioc, ausubaru and google for a how to guide. Does anyone know how to get the reader off to the side? I have put a picture here, I assume I am trying to push it the correct way...

Well, after some more disassembly I believe it may be the spinner/read arm that's jamming the CDs in. I powered the unit up again and can't get the arm to swing away to get at the bottom platters. It is a fragile looking thing. I'll make some calls and see if I can get another. If anyone knows the contact for the guy in Canberra that might be handy too. Perhaps I'll just stick it back together and not use the CDs, it would be really nice to have them working though.

This could be what hampers mine. I got the CDs out and put it all back together. I cannot load any CDs because of (what it seems) the arm that opens the loading slot will not move. No more annoying clicking sounds when the power comes on, but the inability to use CDs is annoying.
