Could you have 2 buzzers? One wired in to sound on lock and another wired in to sound on unlock? If there isn't enough room in one connector you could potentially install one on each door.

Yes you could - just wire it up in the opposite direction. Both would sound the same though, so you'd want a bigger one or a different type for either lock or unlock, I would think.

I am sold on just the tone with lock- It almost instantly stopped me from pressing the lock button about 3 times and checking the handle as well haha... Personally- I don't need a buzzer on unlock - But it's dead easy if you want to add it!

I have a Pre FL Liberty wagon which flashes the indicators and chirps when I lock/unlock the car. Out of the showroom it was fitted with an upgraded Subaru alarm which is very easy to install as far as I can tell (plug and play). There are a couple of plugs underneath the dash for 2 modules and there is a plug near the center of the firewall for the external buzzer. I am unsure if the same system can be used across the Gen 4 Liberty range and whether the car would need to be scanned by Subaru to get it to work with your current remote. I went through my paperwork and I believe the part number is SAA-2001 (unsure though as there are 2 different catalogs). May be worth getting a price on it though, I would be happy to get some pictures of the looms and help someone out who lives near Melbourne to see if this is achievable.

Thanks Hayden- sensational bit of info! I'll definitely have a look into that. An OEM alarm on the same remote is a massive plus.

See what I can find out.

Cheers mate :D

I have a 2008 heritage and it has the chirp, thought they were all the same.

Maybe you could look at a wrecked car?

Perhaps updated for MY09? Mine is April 2008, so still a MY08.
...Actually I think I remember reading an Australian brochure for each year model- and iirc the chirp was added MY09! Will double check that.

Plot is thickening lol

They call it "Keyless Entry with Answer Back" - MY09 standard. These are US brochures however..

this is how I stopped the chirp, I located the beep module under the air filter box on my 2013 outback. I disconnected the plug going to it and no more chirp (beep) I tried to attach the picture of the removed module but the file was too large and I don't know how to reduce it. The module is a 1"x1 1/2" light gray plastic box. Hope this helps any one that wants to stop the lock chirp.

A much more expensive and complicated way to eventually achieve a similar thing :)
