Central Locking - Working Intermittently

Gents

I am in dire need of help. The central locking in my car (MY05 Subaru Liberty) was working intermittently and has now stopped working all together (both fobs). I have had a search of this forum and online and first thought it may be the door actuators. But no longer think this is the case as my keys when working open all doors and boot or none at all.

I do not want to take it to the dealer if possible as I prefer to service the car myself so was looking for a DIY fix.

I have replaced the batteries in both fobs and this has not helped the situation (the batteries were generic but were the size required and I have replaced the fob batteries with this brand in the past with no issues).

I was planning on replacing the car battery or looking for the central locking unit (behind the glove box?) within the car as possible fixes. But am otherwise stumped.

The missus and I have been sharing the car and she is not as careful as me manually opening the car and I already have a few key hole scratches (OCD I know). Was hoping someone else may have an answer for me.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem.

I'm wondering if it's the central locking receiver/transceiver playing up?
I think my actuators are fine as using the internal switch has all doors lock/unlock no problem.

I've got fresh batteries in both remotes too.

Seems to work sometimes when the car is warm? or after being driven?

Yeah mine slowly got worse. It worked for a while (locking) after having been driven and now has stopped all together.

I've had mates give me advice from cleaning my windows (to improve the transmission of the frequency - though if it does not work sitting in the car I think this is pointless) to playing around with the battery in the car. Replacing the car battery is the only thing on the list left to try - though it also seems the least likely to help.

hello guys.

i hear you got central problems.i know you guys not going to like what im going to say.the 2005 is obd2 so you can do a scan of the system and see whats happening.

or you can do the checks with the door cards off and use a mulitimeter and check is there is current and signal going to and from the doors to central locking unit and get hold of the wiring diagram as well for that model.you might have a break or weak conection or corrontion somewear.

any how see if that helps.
