This would be a good option for those looking for a more aggressive fit but want to use factory rims. It is illegal though and would not get through roadside or blue/pink slip inspections.

It is illegal, yes. That said, I'd be surprised if it would get picked up in all but the most in-depth of inspections.

You'd just have to hope the guy doing the inspection doesn't do it properly by pulling the wheels off. On a roadside you'd probably be fine though unless someone actually knew Subarus.

Sorry to dig up an 10 month old thread but what would be needed to convert a 07 TB STi to 114.3?

You could start by reading the whole thread as most options are covered :)

Then make a decision on what approach suits your budget.

The STi most common to the postfl BP/BL is the GRB onwards.
Same strut front top mount, similar trailing arm/3 lateral link rear with a shock that does less duty than the struts found on GD's. Eg rear camber is a function of the lateral links, not the strut top.
The STi front hubs can be machined to accept Wrx/lib struts, or use STi struts.
As mentioned the rear hubs are a trickier issue so I'd have to look at opposed forces to work out the similarities if any.
I've also seen Nissan 114 hubs that at least looked similar to the BP/BL hubs notwithstanding actual compatibility with Subaru driveshafts. And of course it's possible to get custom driveshafts made up.

The other most important benefit of the conversion is the larger 114 STi hub bearings which are purported to hold up better under severe duress.

Apparently this Lib H6 conversion to 114.3 was done with MY06 STi hubs.
I'd love to know the finer details :)

I can imagine is that the STi rear knuckles were machined down to fit the Lib trailing arms:

I may be speaking out of school here, but I really don't see why anyone would bother

Before anyone mentions the additional load bearing strength of a 5x114.5 hub over the 5x100, I'm yet to see anyone in a lib max out or continuously wear out bearings

If its for cosmetic impact, plenty of nice wheel combos now available in the 5x100 thanks to the brz/86

Another thing is the custom rear shafts that would be required due to different track width of the wrx Sti 5x114.5 compared to the gen 4. The r180 diff end and r160 hub end shafts are actually more sought after for most people so would be counter intuitive.

My 2 cents

True.
The chap I linked to hadn't tackled the rears, which is the tricky, requires machining part.

And yes even 5x100 hubs can be supported to last under heavy track use.

i did the conversion to 5x114.3 the liberty in the picture is one of my customers the car has a full 2006 sti drive line the front nuckles bolt directly to the lower ball joints as they are the same size. 06 coilovers must be used or struts but nothing fancy
as for the rears nothing is machined to fit its all just bearing swaps and rear dog bone adaptors.

It's a bit of a long shot, but if you're still here Dan - could you shed some light on the specific rear bearing swaps and dog bone adaptors necessary to get the rear 114.3 conversion going? I've been scrounging the web for a while and haven't uncovered anything except this post!
