Vibrations at a particular low rev range?

Hi guys, got an MY07 GT Auto and getting a fair bit of a vibration at low a rev range after replacing a drive shaft with a split CV boot with an aftermarket unit. Nothing to make the car unusable, still drives fine, just concerning...

However the fact that it's vibrating while in gear but brakes applied has me thinking it's not the new drive shaft causing the vibration as I'd think this would only happen while actually moving, am i right? (bit coincidental though). The replacement unit appeared a little different to the original Subaru, but the dimensions were identical and installed easily without any problems whatsoever.

As it's happening in gear but while braked I'm thinking it might be the gearbox as I've never changed the fluid and who knows if Subaru ever did it then they said they did (like my supposed 10k km old fully black spark plugs). So I'm looking to replace the fluid, just wondering which to go with. From my reading it looks like Subaru now use Castrol Transmax E, which seems to be this stuff http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... 9871#Cross

However has anyone used this Penrite at all? I'm a pretty big fan of their stuff and their site recommends it for my car, cheaper too. http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products.p ... oducts=336

Also any tips on changing it? Never done it before but seems straightforward enough.

I had the same issue.

Purchased and installed new aftermarket driveshaft from eBay as I had a split cv boot, had the same vibrations when stopped in D and when driving.

Ended up just re-booting and re-installing my old shaft and the vibration was gone.

Worked out well having a loan shaft for the week while I mucked around re-booting the OEM shaft

Cool thanks for that! Well I called the guy I got the CV joint from and he's gonna give me a replacement so all good there

Still planning to change the transmission fluid , any input on which to use?
