Clean the throttle body

I'd like to clean my TB and am thinking that the upper engine cleaner is the best stuff for the job. Normally I spray into the BPV vacuum line but that goes directly into the intake manifold but that bypasses the TB. As far as I can tell the only way to get to the TB is to either loosen an inter cooler hose and spray in there or perhaps remove the BPV and do it via the exposed hole. What do others do??
Also, would you recommend doing it on the intercooler hot side (i.e intercooler intake) so as to give the intercooler a good clean also??
Cheers.

I've been researching this in preparation for fitting an SG Motorsports AOS (oil filler type).
Definitely saw a how to on LGT or similar, gunk can build up on the TB inlet and butterfly, I'll dig it up and share here.
At the same time I'll be adding an AVO TB hose, with temp sensors bung (or similar), STi pitch rod, and TMIC waterspray hoses.

Thanks Benny. Any info would be appreciated.

Be a little careful when cleaning the TB with a 'drive by wire' system. If you spray too much, it can get into the throttle angle sensors or the drive motor.

Unless mine is actually gunked up, I wont touch it at all!

Interesting. However, I would have thought, given the amount of oil mist that gets in our intake/intercooler, that the TB could do with a regular clean. Need to do some more research.

Perhaps to avoid the hassle of undoing the TB hose plus moving the intercooler around you could just undo the two bolts and remove the BOV. This should allow you to spray towards the TB through the BOV hole in the intercooler.
Personally I hate fitting that TB hose back on.

Gasketed otherwise with boost pressure, which is higher than a spray can pressure, manifold boost will cause issues blowing out the TB motor etc

Upgrading to AVO TB hose whilst I'm at it

Undo the TMIC-TB hose on the IC side and wedge a flat blade screw driver in, this will create a gap you can get the UEC spray hose into and spray the UEC straight into the TB. That's how I do it at work and never had a single issue. If a car comes in with rough running we remove the IC, wedge the TB open with a screwdriver handle and clean it out with UEC and a rag. This is only extreme cases though.
