That's it, just zip tied to the yoke.
Underneath its tucked in under a heat shield or similar, but best do like Jake did and zip tie it up underneath too.

Was this problem ever resolved?

I made an uneducated guess to buy a Kartboy short shifter today, and then came back to read about problems with fitment. :?

Contrary to that, a quote from 2011:

pretty straightforward - took about 1 hour DIY

^^ would this have been because Kartboy use to make a Liberty specific shifter which bombers18 used? (did they used to make one?) Or was something being done wrong by conkyd?

If you install a non LGT-specific 6mt STS, a short sleeve is required to lengthen the cable-outer of the reverse lockout cable.
From memory on Simbats car we used an acrylic drill bit tube, cut down to about 25-30mm.
There is some adjustment available at the gearbox end to fine tune the action once the sleeve is installed.

Where exactly does the the extra tubing should go? Is the extra tubing supposed to slip through the cable hole/tube?

For future reference for those who might install a WRX STI 6 speed shifter into their Liberty, these are the problems you'll encounter.

Holes don't line up. Luckily this bottom piece of plastic isn't too important since it just holds the leather boot up and covers the reverse lock out spring. You have a few options: glue it, screw it, or zip tie it.

The other problem as previously discussed was the reverse cable outer needing an extension sleeve. I used a 30 mm sleeve which works well. Could do with a slight adjustment down at the base of the cable, but it's still fully functional!

Time to dig up a thread. So I too am installing a kartboy into the spec b 6mt. Got the new one in and am now up to the bit where the reverse cable is too long. Struggling to understand how to shorten it? Is this the job of the 30mm extension sleeve?

Very very confused. Put the spacer in after some more reading and it holds the outer sheath down/in place nicely but now when I lift the reverse collar up it locks reverse and when it's sitting down normally reverse is open... Any thoughts?

Purchased a Kartboy Short Shifter for my 6MT 3.0RB thinking it would fit straight on without hassle. But came across two issues:

1. The reverse lockout cable is too long for the STI Short Shifter. A spacer will need to be added to retain the correct cable length. As a matter of fact, the old Pivot Bush Sleeve acts as a perfect spacer and slides over the reverse lockout cable, providing the perfect amount of length to bring the lockout cable in line. Use a couple of cable ties and some insulation tape to hold everything in place.

2. Due to the way the plastic cap that goes around the reverse lockout cable spring attaches on the stock shifter (via 2 screws on the side), this is not compatible with the short shifter, which has holes at the bottom. The plastic cap is also too tall/high and doesn't give much room for your fingers to go under to lift the reverse lockout cover. To overcome this problem, about 5-8mm needs to be removed from the bottom of the plastic cap and new slots/holes drilled to cable tie the cap back onto the short shifter.

All fixed. Only took an extra 30 mins to overcome these issues. Ive had the shifter out a few times in the past which made things easier.
