Information display (fuel consumption) MY04

Hey guys,

So I finally got my Gen 4 last week, after wanting one for at least 5 years. I love it!

Just one little thing bugging me at the moment. The information display when set to fuel consumption (avg, trip A or B) reads as L/100km, however shows incorrect numbers. I'm getting a healthy ~700km to a tank, so I know that 25L/100km is not accurate. The real-time avg. goes up as my foot goes down, so it's likely reading as km/L.

The manual doesn't say how to swap between the two - does anybody here know how to?

Apologies if it has been covered before, I couldn't see anything after some searching. Not the easiest thing to search for.

If it was reading as KM/L it would mean you should get 1650 per L. I'm guessing its supposed to be L/100k but reading wrong. 12ish /100k is ave for city driving.

That's a very good point, km/L does seem quite unlikely then.
Thanks for your reply though

My first thought was that it's reading from max to min, instead of min to max - at maybe 75% throttle it dips down to 4L/100km.
Seems like it is reading incorrectly then, however the distance to empty reading is accurate.

Anyone else with an idea on how to correct the reading here?

MY04's all read in km/L. If you check your car it actually says so.

If I were you, I'd be resetting the ECU and seeing how that goes (disconnect battery, pump brakes a few times until power drains, reconnect battery, take for a drive.)
Also, if every doing an ECU reset remember the ECU learns how you drive, so don't drive it like a grandma

Are you talking about swapping between different trips and their related fuel consumptions? If so, you just have to change the trip on your odometer, in front of the steering wheel

Hey Kody, based purely on the fact that the manual seems to agree with you (it's not as specific as it could be) and the fact that we have nearly the same model, I'd be inclined to believe you... I'm not sure what's different about mine, but I took a photo for you when I went out earlier.

But yeah I think I might try resetting the ECU when I get around to it. It just got a new battery right before I bought it, could be something to do with it I guess?
