I've searched the forums all through but couldn't find any specific topic, maybe it's trivial but I'm going to ask anyway

my hatch lift supports (wagon) are not fully opening the hatch.. maybe up to 3/4 and it happened few times that I've hit my head and you can imagine all sorts of words I let go then.. anyway, is there any maintenance that would help the supports to fully lift the door without my help? or where could I possibly source a new ones (obviously, the cheaper the better). Thanks heaps!

my 08 is starting to do this also. Do a web search and you should find many sources of new or regassed units. |Should be around $100 the set or less. I was told there are changes from year to year in Subies, they may want to see the car to know which ones are correct.

The only change if any between the years would be between pre and post facelift models but I would say that the struts would be the same length as the post facelift tailgate bolts onto the pre facelift wagon no worries.

I'm having the same problem but I've been putting it off as I didn't know what to buy

Apparently there are different types of mounting brackets from year to year or at model to model.....and it might be hard to properly describe over the phone....

Ill post a photo of my my04 liberty tail gate strut mount and a picture of the my07 wagon mount to compair but I'm 90% sure they are the same

Oh wait....split fold rear seats...+1 wagon!

Its only gas struts, just go into a car part store, or somewhere that deals with gas struts and get them to run the strut code for you. Should be a simple excercise. I deal with these all the time building toolboxes at work.

I've inquired about the prices .. it normally goes around 90$ for re-gas and around the same price for new (with 2y warranty). I'll probably go for the new ones. Not sure what is the policy of the forums providing the names of the business here (?) pm me otherwise (sydneysiders) to provide more info. cheers
