Hey all,

I'm new to these forums but just wanted to get some ideas. My dashboard has an annoying squeak, and it's being caused by one panel rubbing up against the other. There is a gap between the two panels, and you can see it on the attached photo as a thin line located just behind the air vents. These two panels rub against each other, and the noise becomes louder when going over bumps. It is also sensitive to temperature change. I was just wondering if anyone has a similar issue or any thoughts on how to eliminate it?

I seem to have the same problem but only every now and then, drives me nuts !!!
a good whack to the dash board seem to temporally fix the problem
Always worried that I somehow will set off the airbags though

I had the same problem. Sold the car and bought a European car. Never looked back

Is it a squeak or a rattle? i've noticed one recently, but it sounds more like i'm driving behind a truck carrying gravel.

Just spray a bit of WD40 down there, cover the nozzle with a cloth so it doesn't go everywhere then wipe up the excess

It's definitely a squeak. Rattles can be just as painful and hard to get rid of

I have tried that but unfortunately it did nothing. Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm thinking of maybe stuffing a little bit of foam down there.

Thin weather strip (the stuff you stick to the bottoms of doors) will do the trick. You should be able to find some around 1-2mm thick at bunnings.
