Seat removal

Postby J0HNATH0N » Sun Feb 24, 2013 11:45 pm

Hi Guys

I want to install some amps under the seats, i saw on a post that there is power and airbag connections on the side of the seats.

Can someone confirm that you disconnect the battery, then remove plugs, take seats out, do what i need to do, put seats back in and then connect the plugs before i put the battery back on?

also there isnt any security pin that needs to be entered on the Mac head unit if its disconnected from power?

i know this sounds stupid but i want to confirm with the guys n gals that have done it before

Thanks

I recently did an amp install on my Liberty using the standard factory stereo (non McIntosh) and came across no security code after reconnecting my battery. Although, I believe it is largely dependent on whether the radio is security coded and if it has been activated by any previous owners (otherwise use the code listed in your manual - if equipped).

As for removing the seats there are four bolts to be removed (two at the back under a plastic cover). Then slowly tilt your seat back and remove the two connectors keeping in mind that the airbag connector has a double lock type of mechanism on it and is therefore slightly harder to remove.

Good luck and remember there is a guide on how to install amps in the walk through section of this forum. Mihai (Michael) has done a great job in explaining the necessary steps.
