I use my scissor jack (or even a small trolley jack) to push the bottom of the strut upwards. Needs a few attempts trying to line it up though before jacking it up.

The other method I've used is to shove a 3m piece of 2x4 wood into that general area and levering the hub/control arm downwards until the holes line up (2 man job)

Similar to Nathan, I used my trollet jack, with a short length bit of 2x4 timber on it to lift the shock up. The reason for the timer is because it can be hard to balance the end of the jack on the smallish end of the strut.

Good luck.

yep as above, or you can get a mate to stand on the hub and push it down

both work, just might need a few attempts

Needs a fair bit of force, get someone to push it down with their foot

Un do the sway bar end links from the rear hub. As when one side is punching doen the other side is trying to push up and this causing you major headaches.
