Mark from Sydney here, very informative forum you have here !
Hoping someone might be able to help me with a minor problem with my MY04 GT wagon. Lately the drivers door remote lock has been playing up, sometimes it locks sometime it doesn't. If it doesn't lock I hit the open button then the close button and it works. Visa versa if it doesn't open I have to hit the close button then open and it works. Only the drivers side does this, all other doors work fine. I can hear the lock/actuator clicking, is it possible it needs some lubrication like a hit of WD40 ? No problem with key/ batteries as other doors unlock. Is this a known problem or just something simple ?

Hi Mark,

There's plenty of posts relating to central locking actuators. Have a search through and you should find what you're looking for.

It's quite common for the electric motors to get gunked up with grease, there's a few options you can take but they'll be covered by the search.

Have a look through this.. I did it, but the best thing I ever did was buy brand new replacements from the US

+1 with gunk in actuators.

Dismantled rear door that was troubling me and fixed the problem. Solution found on this forum!

Hi guys, back again with the same problem.
I followed the links to de-gunk the actuator as described, been working great for 6 months but now has stopped working again. This time there is no sound from the mechanism so I presume maybe the little motor has gone ? All other doors work fine.
Does anyone have a link to a replacement part ?
I decided to just replace the whole lock, couldn't be arsed fixing the old one, just can't get my big hands in there inside the door.

If the casing wasnt completely clean and degreased when you glued it back together then there's a good chance it's popped open and the motor no longer makes contact for power.

They're available for about $65 USD through many of the American Subaru spare parts websites.

small motor has blown. Can anyone suggest somewhere reliable to buy the actuator that will ship to Australia ?
Seems no one will ship and my local guy wants $270 . Is it possible to buy replacement motors ? or chance a used one ?

Read the walk through for cleaning the actuators as these won't work as they are, you need to swap some stuff over.
