Gear knob

Postby KF1995 » Sat Jan 19, 2013 9:41 am

Hi, I have purchased a new gear knob for my 2.0r 06 lib and having trouble getting the original one off. Does anyone have any tips or know how to get it off?

It looks similar to this-

I imagine it would unscrew in an anti-clockwise direction

It unscrews completely but is still inside the stitching just dangling around and does not want to come off.

Sounds like it's actually attached to the gearboot (Sorry I don't have a manual to confirm)

It's easy enough to remove the gear lever surround to you can remove the whole piece to inspect it further.

Pretty sure it has like a lip around the bottom of the knob to hold the boot on, you can just pull it off

Yeah there is a plastic ring holding the stitching to the bottom of the knob... just firmly yank it and it should actually 'pop' off.
Below car has been gone for quite some time now... blew bottom end bearing and dealership screwed me! Now driving 2008 WRX with ~65k kms on the clock. Only has cat back exhaust and tune by KiDo at the moment! More to come... but slowly!

Purchased recently (12/11/2013), already with: Stage 2 Pedders lowered springs, rear Whiteline sway bar, Advan Racing TCII 18x8 wheels, k&N pod filter, custom 3" exhaust system from turbo back with Magnaflow mufflers. ECUTEK tune of some sort (hopefully soon to be fixed)..... now FIXED!! Now KiDo Tuned!
Added: HID kit, EZ lip equivalents to the front and sides, and various LED treatments, oem boot spoiler, [LGT WRC] plates, GFB Respons BOV for extra Pssscchhh! --> Gone... I couldn't afford it's heart transplant... but keep a look out, as it will come back on sale soon!
