Hey guys, i have had my car for a year now, and since about 4 months ago, my car keys have both stopped working in the sense or keyless entry. now i put brand new batteries in both of the keys and that fixed the problem for a couple of days, until again they stopped working. Now ive sorta just dealt with it until now, its just getting frustrating, so any help or advice would be great

Thanks Alex

Also if i open the key, take the battery out for a minute or so, put the same battery back in, it will start to work again for a day or two, then just stops again. Does anyone have any clue?

Well it's not a bad transponder, that's for sure.
Have you tried cleaning the battery contacts in the key? Maybe they're dirty and re-positioning the battery by removing it it and putting it back in helps to re-establish the physical connection between battery and contact again.

what i did today was opened the key up took it completely apart and it was pretty dusty, so cleared all that out, its working okay for now, so see how that goes. the only thing that im still kinda suspicious about is why did both keys stop at the same time. but it could have just been a coincidence. who knows? haha
thanks for you help

Same problem with my key, cleaned the battery connectors with some Metho and a cotton ear bud and haven't had a problem since. My mates '02 Forrester, with the same key, has the same problem. Cleaning his didn't fix it though, it's temperamental on cold mornings.

If the rubber is split on the button, (usually from using your nails to push button instead of finger) it can let dirt and grime on around the button. If you take it apart and clean the circuit board with a soft toothbrush, making sure there is especially nothing around the button, it may fix your problem. When i first got my car, i had the same problem. Good luck with fixing it mate.
