Help with scratch repair

Postby destroman » Sun Sep 02, 2012 4:31 pm

Yesterday was such a nice day i decided to finally get the car out and install the new Corazon grill i had delivered by the PHAT man.
Got the baby installed. But then ...... in under 24 hours some DUMB F*CK has managed to back into the front bar and not have the decency to leave their details.
I now have a brand new grill and front bar that has been decorated with some other idiots car. (see pics in below links)

So i was wandering if anyone knew of any tips to get out or polish out any scratches or scrapes to paint work?
Hope someone can help !

Hi mate that's fuc###d people have no respect.

Unfortunate it looks like a bar respray..

There are mobile guys that do it but unsure how good they are.

+1. If you ever catch who did it, you should beat them like you were their daddy.
That being said, it may not be so bad as to require a respray. I would try a detailer first, as they could probably get that out.

If you want to try to fix it yourself, use a cutting compound (like Scratch X or a better brand) and polish. You won't fix it 100%, but you will improve it and get rid of the black marks.
Good luck.
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

Sorry but that's a respray job. Especially on this colour. No detailer could fix that 100%, touch up paint just doesn't work even with the arctic white colour or whatever that is called.
The money you will spend on a detailer to get it 80% okay is better off spent on a respray of the grille.

Give that section on the front bar a hand polish and see what the damage actually is, likely that hasn't breached the clear and just left the rust from the tow bar that hit you, so that will come off mostly with some light scratching which could be polished out, but that's just a guess.
