3.0R-B short shifter install-fail

I have an 05 3.0R-B (so yes, 6 speed manual)
Okay so went and installed my short shifter this afternoon, got most of it done but now the reverse lockout cable won't pull back so it's able to go into reverse anytime which is not going to be safe, I tried a few things but couldn't figure it out I didn't touch anything other then the pin that holds the cable into the gear stick, so I'm pretty confused.
Any help would be really appreciated

Did you follow instructions?? With the lockout on the six speeds for short shift installs you have to get under the car and pin something in place so it doesn't fall out or something like that. Instructions are vital for 6spd install. 5spd one would be easy, its just the reverse lockout that causes trouble. If you were in sydney I'd do it for you but qld no can do. Find instructions online if you need to and you should be fine

Hi Kayne,
Hopefully you removed what ever you used under the car(split pin/allen key) to hold the lockout lever in place during install since that would stop it working. Other than that check you put the large spring back under the lockout lift ring to keep pressure on the lockout ring. See below the first and second pic. If you've done it properly it should have been a complete pain in the a$$ to reinstall that little pin back in the lever
