Sunroof- Front tilt mechanism broken

Hey everyone,

I’ve fixed this problem temporarily before, but it only lasts a short time before it wears our again.
The front tilt section of my sunroof is broken on one side. It’s a pretty common problem with the moon roofs, and i hear subaru can replace the front drive assembly once the sunroof is out of the car. The assembly costs somewhere around 200-300 PLUS labour. I’d also need to take the roof lining out (again. not something that i want to do).

Does anyone have any ideas how i could fix this myself? any handy tricks?
I’ve attached 2 pictures showing the broken side, and the good side.

Bit of an update if anyone comes across the same issue,
I made a small cylinder (6mm wide x 8mm long), trying to copy the plastic bit that use to exist.
The sunroof works with only this bit, and without the other double sided plastic hook thing.
Im going to find some copper and bend that into the same cylinder shape, and replace the paper as it will probably wear out sometime.
