it happens on both my libs!! annoys the absolute shit out of me!! cant turn the music up at all, if i do all i hear is vibration noise. it stops if i press down on the shelf, im so tempted to just drill a hole and put a bolt thru that middle piece.

My uncle (in Singapore) did sound deadening on all doors and I think the rear parcel shelf too. And I noticed he didn't those rattles.

yea rattles absolutely drive me insane. im very anal about it. had a cupholder squeak in the 05, pulled it apart and double sided taped the squeaking parts. dunno what to do about the rear shelf tho

So glad to hear someone has the same pain as me!!

I've pulled my front door trims off about 6 times all up, once to fit new speakers, the rest to fix the rattles. I actually tried to fix the rattles before putting new speakers in but then found it was the stock speakers and mounts making the rattling, so i replaced those. All is well in the front now, and about a week ago i developed a rattle high in the door trim at the rear. Unfortunate thing is, it's right in my ear and i can hear it everytime i hit a bump (even those small caps in between lanes on the road). Giving me the shits!


My old car had the same problem in the rear parcel shelf so i know it's not JUST Subaru's. I actually found that my Subaru lasted longer before developing a rattle than any other car I or my friends have owned! So that's one plus! Funniest part is that majority of people can't hear what us OCD people can!

Dynamat the underside of the trim and line the shelf with some foam or other dense padding. At the same time, line the side of the brake light that meets the window with some weather seal adhesive tape to minimise the chance of the brake light rattling against the window.

If you are willing to come to the South Eastern suburbs I can pull it all apart for you. I've pulled my parcel shelf off about 6 times now do random things with the sub or sound deadening and I did xyz's car 2 weeks ago.

I've got an install I'm trying to finish (new amps and now a new front stage because the guy I am doing it for has more money than he knows what to do with and gets bored easily) and one last major install possibly in the pipeline. Maybe around xmas I'm hoping to be free???

I just jammed a piece of cardboard under my rear tail light. Worked great, and was free.

I've found out that my gear surround trim has a rubber/foam gasket around it to prevent rattles... and my wheel wells are carpet lined to reduce road noise.
