I’m going DYI early next week. Taking the roof trim completely off,
Taking the glass off the sunroof, and then giving it a spring clean, checking the seals and solving this damn leak

There’s a decent chance. I just hope i can put the roof trim back in the way it was originally!

Found the leak with the roof trim off and sealed it all up. It was just near the front drivers side drain. The existing seal must have gotten a bit thin i think.

@ jay.ritchie: Did you remove the roof lining or just the pillar linings?

If roof lining, how did you go? Fun or hell??? :D

Edit: just saw your post here, where's the right spot to ask questions?

Here’s fine, kind of mixes into both a bit.
I’ve pulled the trim down twice, but this time i took the whole roof trim off so i could once and for all find the leak. With the trim off i could pour water into the tracks and look at the roof for the drips.

It wasn’t that bad pulling it off, takes a while unscrewing everything though. I think it took just over an hour to get it off.
the tougher part was getting the roof trim on the other sides of the side trim, as the 4x side trims only disconnect up the top, and i wasn’t keen on pulling them entirely off.

Far freaking out! You're BRAVE!!!
I'm wondering how different pre's and posts are, I vaguely remember the workshop service manual mentioning that the wagon roof lining is riveted at the front: any evidence of that on yours?

Looks like swapping out the motor wouldn't be the hard part?

Yeah there was one rivet in the centre of the roof at the front which you can just pull out, and theres 3 at the rear.
I also need to fix the front tilt section of the sunroof as one side has broken. I heard you need to pull the entire sunroof out to fix it. Thinking i’ll go to a handy man and get something made up instead!

One other thing... The rivets holding the roof trim in front and rear, did you drill them out and re-rivet them later or are they re-useable? :D
