Replacing Various Bulbs

Postby mynameisdaniel » Sun Feb 26, 2012 5:17 pm

Hey,

I'm planning on replacing a few bulbs around the car with LEDs and chrome tinted bulbs. Interior ones are easy enough to get to, license plate ones were easy too.

My biggest problem is the headlights. I want to replace the parkers and the indicator bulbs but I can barely get to the parkers and no chance at getting to the indicators...
How does everyone else go about doing this?

Also, the indicator bulbs for the headlights and tail lights, does anyone know if they're all T20 size?

Finally, what's the biggest SMD T10 size light that fits the parker spot, ie 9 or 13 LED?

Cheers,
Daniel.

I managed to change my front indicators and parkers without too much hassle. I disassembled the intake to access the drivers side and took the bracket off the battery and moved it to one side to do the passenger. Bit of a PITA but if you take a good look at it and are prepared to have a few scratches on your hands you'll get it done. & yes front and rear indicators are T20.

For the parkers, 13smd will fit but is a tight fit, better go for 9smd. Where a re you located? Have you spoken our LED king for his advise?

As mentioned above, the front light assembly is a real PITA, but not impossible to access.

Thanks guys, I'm from Adelaide.

I'm glad it can be done that way, looked like the only other option was removing the lights just to change some bulbs :p

No need to remove, its really difficult but still accessible from the back. Unless you have arms like these:

Cheers, I'll see how I go when I get the bulbs, always easier when you know it can be done. Thankfully my arms aren't anywhere near that size Ian :P

Yeh frank is single, his left arm is really skinny as it doesn't get much use. Personally I'd alternate for that very reason

Hey all,

I have a question, tonight i will be replacing both of the parker bulbs.

On one side of the car the parker will work intermittantly, would replacing the bulb fix this or would i need to replace the fuse?

The parker removal sounds like a b*tch so i would rather not do it if i can avoid it.

Thanks
Tim

Assuming you've got the standard bulbs in there when they die they just die. LEDs can start to flicker as they die though. Sounds like either the bulb is loose in its socket or you have a wiring problem. If it was a fuse both would have problems as well as other stuff on the same fuse. I'd try replacing the bulbs and making sure the new ones sit in there securely.
