STI Badge - Front Grill

Postby miller0 » Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:23 pm

I recently bought a genuine STI grill badge, however I'm not able to fit it...

The badge came with a "fitting kit" which includes a backing plate and 2 securing nuts.

The problem I have is that the two prongs on the back of the badge are not long enough to reach through the grill, so as I can pair it up with the backing plate...

So how is everyone else doing it?

Car is an 08 STI Liberty.

So much for genuine...

I got a set too for my honeycomb grille, but same problem. I hacked off the two prongs and tried using 3M tape, but the honeycomb isn't flush for good contact. In the end, the emblem is stuck onto my laptop bag and I got a cheapie off ebay.

Its genuine - bought it from GenuineSubaruParts, so maybe they sent the wrong badge.

Looks like a DIY option is my only options - ideas?

MY08 STI... so I assume you have the Honeycomb grille? I'll take a pic of my ebay badge later and post it here. Don't really like it, so if you figure a way to get it on, please let me know. My prong-less genuine badge is still stuck quite firmly on my laptop bag... going to leave it there so I don't lose it

The other idea is using some strong super glue, but not sure what to use.

Edit:
Your avatar pic shows the MY07 STI wheels :?
And you are #76/200???
MY07 total was 300.
MY08 total was 250.

I tried super glue lastnight. Same problem - wasn't enough surface area in order for it to stick.

With regards to my avatar, its just a photo from Google images ;-)

I do indeed have the MY08 STI. 76/200.

Yes so what he is saying is that there were 250 not 200...

^^ looks good.

Wish I could put my badge on... Going to see if I can come up with a way to fix it to the grill today.

I s'pose its ok. Would still prefer that it matched the badge I have on the boot (and now laptop bag, lol).
