Led tail light issue my05 - cruise won't set

I have a pretty annoying issue with my 05 wagon , I got off to a great start for 2012 when I woke up to find some one had crushed one of my tail lights . So I decided to go with a led set , they look great and work
well with the exception that now I can not set cruise control at all. I believe this maybe a voltage issue however I have tapped In some resistors but still I can not set cruise ( set light comes on at start up but not when trying to engage it)
I'm curious to know if anyone has shared such an issue and if they found a way to reslove it . I'm
starting to wish I didn't go down the led path now . For the record I'm trying tap the brake wire and ground wire and am using a narva resistor 21 watt for each side.
Any helpful info would be much appreciated
Cheers

Have you replaced the relay????
You don't mention it..... could be a factor.
Have you had it error code checked, may be something else.....causing it too
Just my initial thoughts

I haven't checked the relay just yet. I'm going to whack the bulbs back in the stop section just to test if 'set' on cruise can be restored .If that works then I'm guessing it's a voltage issue if not then something else.
It's a manual so is it possible that it maybe a knock sensor on the clutch , I have no flashing error lights on the dash however. All my lights are working normally .
Cheers

I swapped out (unplugged) the leds and plugged the dual filament brake globes and cruise is 100% operational
So It makes me think the led lights could be possibly incompatible with cruise control.
Might be worth noting that the dual filament globes have 4 silver contact points where they plug into to mount where as the led tail light connector only has three silver contact points so I'm thinking the issue lies with the led connection to the brake globe wedge socket. Any suggestions , I dint use cruise that often but I've got a pretty big drive coming up in a few weeks , it would drive me crazy not having cruise control .
Cheers for any info

Have been following this and not sure what to suggest other than fit the original and see if it works. Now that you've done that & explained abit more, I believe the cruise control system "sees" the brakes as being ON without that fourth contact.
You can try and see if you can somehow wire the brakes to that fourth contact to see if that allows you to set the cruise control, but whatever you do, don't just wire it so that it is Forced on, because braking will not disengage the cruise control.
I believe this setup is in Fail Safe mode, contact energised when it is safe.
