Hello all,

Found info on how to take out the stock McIntosh deck so I could install the iPod adaptor. I've got everything out up but no matter how I try I couldn't get the emergency light / hazard light cable off the facia! haha.... anyone care to help?

Regards

there should be a small white button/latch. just get a small flathead screwdriver to push it in if you're having trouble

I am in Melbourne, yeah I saw the little thing that I could use a flat head but which way to push it? I think I was pushing it towards the facia..

I haven't seen it, but at a guess, you push it in, i.e. into the body of the connector, then pull the plug out.

Postby pplwu » Tue Nov 06, 2007 4:50 pm

Yeah thanks guys I finally got the plug off but guess what my iPod does not work with the iPod interface. My model isan iPod 20G 3rd Gen i think with firmware 2.3 however the head unit kept on coming up with machine error or focus error. However when I tried with my girlfirends Nano it worked! will try the iPod video tonight when I get home. Anyone has the same issue?

Yes the EA1251 is very specific with what it will and will not accept.

It works fine with my iPod Mini - however my iPhone did not work with it.

Also the iPod functionality is quite primitive - it doesn't save random or repeat modes each time you turn off the car, and when you disconnect the iPod and plug it back in again, it defaults to playlist 1 (i.e. all songs).

Quite annoying.

I had a 15gb 3rd gen iPod & it worked fine with mine. Just crapy control over the selection of music. So maybe try updateing the firm ware on the Pod
& i now have the 6gen & it also works exactly the same as my old iPod, ive also had a 2nd & 3rd gen Nano pluged in & they all worked
