Hey guys, i bought an old '83 Mitsubishi Sigma the other day as a cheap work car.
It is in surprisingly excellent condition inside and out! Despite being hideously ugly!!
And its a one owner vehicle.
As title says, there is free play in the steering, normally it wouldnt bother me,
but ill be travelling 45km to work in a 110km/h zone.
I was just wondering if anyone knew if there is something i can adjust to fix it?
I have tried Google but havent come up with much useful info.

if youre talking about what im thinking of i would take a guess and say replacing what are likely 20+ year old bushings would get rid of the free play sensation and tighten everything up

That was my initial thought as well. After shoe horning some new bushes into the front of the Sherpa I was amazed at the difference in the steering feel.

We needed the actual bolts in the steering column assy tightened up!
Definitely worth checking if there's still play after doing everthing else...
Townace van
