Turbo Timer

Postby t.renshaw34 » Mon Dec 26, 2011 1:11 pm

Hey guys, so I got a new HKS turbo the other week and have got myself a HKS turbo timer to help warm the new turbo down properly. Has anyone put a turbo timer on their liberty before? As I don't really want to be playing with my ignition wires with out knowing what I'm doing.

Will your insurance even cover a turbo timer? I would be checking that first.

Yep, they have my entire mods list. Which I'm covered for all of them.

Is the new HKS turbo an old style oil only cooled turbo? No water feed?

If it has a water feed don't even bother fitting it, it's wank factor only, as water continues to cool down the turbine housing by convection.

The old ones needed a timer to let the housing cool so it didn't congeal around the bearings.

I don't think any insurance company covers turbo timers. There was a discussion a while ago about it. Something in regards to the turbo timer bypassing the immobiliser and hence giving easy access to thieves.
