Same as the gen 4 h6, in the intake just before the throttle body.

thanks mate. did you mean this one? because from what I remember the only thing that is similar is the intake on the left side. the middle and the bottom part (where you actually spray the content of the can) looks different.

subies are new to me and I'm not a mechanic either, though I'm not a lamer neither.

I've bought this car and it's got a high fuel consumption (very easygoing driving to be honest) - 11.2l/100km of combined city and hwy driving. I believe this cleaning might help a bit. if not I'd have to take it to a mechanic. can anyone recommend any in sydney?

thanks again

Yeah like that one. Your intake is similar shape, but doesn't have the air box. Undo the hose clamp into the throttle body and spray it in there.

So you dont spray 1/2 the can into the intake manifold and let it sit first?

I don't as it is possible it can run into the cylinders and cause hydraulic lock. Something Subaru decided to disregard when making the instructions for the can.

Too funny. I spray the whole can in the intake manifold and let sit for 15mns then start and drive off. I've been doing this for the last 6yrs with no issues. Never thought about hydraulic lock, I also do this to my wife mazda and fathers commodore.. You have me thinking.

I wonder if the unscrewing of those two screws is necessary or it just enough to undo the hose clamp and spray it straight there..

O.K. I'm confused. :? I 've got 2007 N/A Forester. Always get it Factory serviced and they have always given me a bottle of liquid! Just pour it in the tank filler with a full tank at the appropriate mileage (kilometerage?)

Its easier to undo the 2 bolts to get the spray hose in on a better angle.

I have been looking into getting some AMSOIL power foam, read through all the directions and cautions etc.

it says not to be used in a vehicle with MAF sensors, doing it directly into the butterfly valve should this eliminate any damage to the sensor?

Yes.

Why are you planning on using it, are you having idling issues?

I've found to get the best result I take off the exhaust manifold and turn the engine over until the exhaust valves are open and spray it directly into the cylinder, do this for all 4 cylinders using about 1/4-1/2 a can in total, then connect the exhaust and spray the rest into the throttle body with the engine running. It may be hard to start due to the powerfoam in the engine from when you sprayed it in the exhaust, just crank it for a bit. Afterwards load up the engine a bit (drive up a hill or something) to make sure its all burnt off nicely.
