Centre Console Lid Problem

Postby grander » Tue Oct 11, 2011 6:41 pm

Anyone else had a lid on their centre console that didnt want to stay down ??

Every time I put the lid down on my 2006 Wagon it pops back up 10mm and stays open... Have fiddled with the clip for no result.

Any tips ?

Is the clip broken, is there too much in the console or a cord or something coming out of it?
Built not bought, it's a way of life.

Yeah, my 2005 GT used to do that too... I managed to fix it by pulling the armrest apart and realigning the bracket/hinge etc. Took about 20mins.

nah its not too full or anything jamming it open...

I've had a good go at re-aligning it... its like the tongue on the clip isnt long enough or the clip isnt strong enough to hold it down...

pretty frustrating every time you rest your arm on it and its moving

It used to frustrate the hell out of me too, that's the only way that I found that gave a lasting fix. I remember I had to be pretty "persuasive" with it to get it to sit just right.

Any idea where the best place to get a replacement part from would be ??
(just in case I get a little 'enthusiastic' with it)

Wreckers? Genuine?
