Replace Manual Gear Knob

just got my MY05 subaru liberty and i bought a momo gear knob for it. when i twist the original gear knob it doesn't seem to come off, what do i need to do???

Pull the leather boot shift off downwards with a bit of force, then keep twisting the gear knob, the thread is quite long.

thanks mate, if my gear knob doesnt have a thread on the inside whats my options? because i cant screw it on

You bought the wrong type of knob. The universal ones come loose and are generally annoying.

You could put some kind of cushioning inside to stop it from moving but would still be annoying IMO.
The thread that you need for is 12mm or 1.25 thread from memory.
