My sunroof seal seals perfect, but its dis-coloured heaps and stands out against the black. I tried black shine products but far beyond that.
Anyone replaced it before? Hard to do?

Mine is in the same state. Tried some Mother's rubber/vinyl/plastic treatment multiple times but no effect - it just wants to be a grey'white colour from years of UV exposure and probable dodgy detailing jobs (looks like it wasn't masked and there's polish residue in multiple places on the car).

303 Aerospace protectant will do the job. I've used it on everything including my black rubber mudflaps on the Sherpa and they came up brand new.

WD-40 helps too

PERL

Believe it or not peanut butter will get rid of most polishing/crappy branded wax stains.

After that give it a good clean with a safe all purpose cleaner.

303 and especially Perl are good but they are not permanent treatments.

Interesting one Hamish. I'm guessing it's a bit abrasive (or REAL abrasive for the crunchy variant ) and the oil may help break it down?

Tried WD-40 on a bit of my sunroof strip. Didn't make it any blacker but pulled some brown shit off it (and a lot of black off too... maybe the rubber itself?).

Might have to try some of the other products mentioned but don't want to work my way through 20 product lines to find none work!

I think it's just the oils that does it.





303 and Perl are very similar. No need to buy both but i find perl better. As I said these will nicely dress/treat the rubber so it becomes water repellant and have a nicer finish but not blacken it. If you want to blacken it then buy something like forever black but make sure applications is smooth and equal and let it dry before making any contact with the paint as it does have black dye in it.

That exhaust surround is plastic though... does 303 or perl work just as well on rubber? The other things I've tried seem to work ok on plastic but not this rubber.
