Central Locking - lights/horn

Hey guys,

I've joined specifically to ask this question (sorry!) but I'm sure I'll stick around anyway.

I've recently become the proud owner of an MY01 Liberty RX, which I'm loving, but I've found one minor frustration with it. I have a friend who has an older ('98) Impreza and his Central Locking flashes the indicators and beeps the horn when locking or unlocking. Mine does nothing at all to indicate it's actually locked/unlocked - if you don't hear the click, the only way you know is by checking the doors. On top of this, I think the remote needs a new battery, so it's not always responding first time.

It's going in for a service next week - is this behaviour something that can be changed, and if so is it something they'd be able to change for me or is there a simple way to do this myself?

Cheers,
Ben

Hi mate, welcome to the forum

As per your question, I have no idea unfortunately. sorry.
I can suggest that you also join up to ozliberty and ask around there, as it happens to be that most of the members on this forum have gen IV libertys, whereas the gen III owners tend to congregate there. This is by no means a blanket statement, and i'm not saying this in a bad way. Indeed someone on here might know the answer, its just more likely that youll get more info from where most of the gen III owners are

Hope you find what you're after

hey mate, i own a 2002 model liberty and when i lock mine it responds by flashing of the indicators twice for unlocking and once for locking. maybe there is a part you could get from a wrecked model of mine as they are fairly similar cars.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've posted on OzLiberty as well, so we'll see what they come up with.

Jason - I've been doing some reading and it looks as though your car might have a newer version of the remote central locking system. Does yours only work when it's very close to the car, or does it work from a longer distance?

seems to work from a bit more of a distance compared to my older liberty (used to have a 99 model) im guessing there isnt a few componants you could change over?
