How do I... Eliminate the lag?

Postby kalvin_uk » Tue Oct 17, 2006 2:15 am

I'm sure this has been done to death in the past but as a new owner I must ask..
Are there any affordable upgrades to terminate primary-secondary lag? I hear some of the twin scroll IHI's better ??

Ohh and is "keep it above 4k rpm" a valid solution?

I found when I installed my 3" cat back it reduced a little, but the best way is to get a piggy back / full replacment ECU and a good dyno tune.

I am installing a UTEC from Turbo xs, will let you know how it turns out!

it will always be there so this is why alot of the Jap B4 tuners run the turbos full time

Most pple who have the twin turbo cars learn to drive around the VOD (valley of death - nickname for the lag as seen on the dyno chart) by either keeping the rpm below it or over it.

The twinscroll is a single turbo, i think it would be quite hard to replace both your turbos with two twinscrolls.

I don't think it can ever be eliminated completely, but it can be reduced significately.

Most have already explained how to reduce it, xorst, ecu tune, keep the revs up etc. Or even replace the twins with a single turbo.

maybe when our fuel gets better it will also reduce it even more..100 RON +

I'm currently running on 99 ron fuel already over here, not tried any additive boosters as they cost the earth!
But yeh your right it'd be nice just to reduce it somewhat someone else told me the bigger turbo (VF26's) from a B4 would help. Is that right?
