Rear air vents????

Hi Guys and Gals.

I just got my 2.5i liberty wagon MY11. I missed out on sat-nav and also the rear air vents, despite the sat-nav being a 'current offer' and the air vents being in thew spec sheet. Well it is a lease vehicle so they take our orders for granted and give us what ever they please . Oh and told I can only have steel silver. Completely different to buying as a private buyer.

Anyway the purpose of this post is to ask if anyone has tried to add the air vents to their 2.5i (or base Outback) I assume like most car makers the vent is fully plumbed, but to make a point of difference they blank it off and say 'oh sorry you want that, pay an extra 3 grand.'

Alternatively has anyone taken out the centre console in the course of stereo works and noticed anything?

I will be asking my service centre guy to see if he knows anything. Just thought it might be something somebody may have done.

By the way great forum, yes this is my first post, but I have only had the car for 27 hours....

In the GenIV Liberty's, the models that come without the rear vents do not have the plumbing there. I know this because I've taken my centre console apart plenty of times to do stereo work. Not quite as simple as a removing a blanking plate and putting vents in.

On this topic, how do you tell the HVAC system you want some air out the rear seat vents - 08 gtb, so Gen iV? I dont recall ever feeling anything coming out there. Dont ride back there much, but would still like to know. There actually are vents under the seats and in the base of the cubby.

GenV there is no separate electric controls for the rear vents - just the manual close / open wheel in the rear. I assume it's on the same 'circuit' as the centre vents as closing the rear results in a slight increased flow from those vents.

There are floor vents to back seats, which come on when you put the a/c to the floor on the controls. I may one day do some investigation and see what is there, see if I can't work out the part number differences and "UPGRADE..."

I just checked the spec sheet, the 2.5i and 2.5i sports do not come with rear vents. The rear vents come with the premium models + GT & 3.6R.

I guessing that is a business lease as I just ordered my car through a novated lease and can get what I want.
