MY07 Liberty - Hazard lights not working

Hi All,
I just bought my wife last week a MY07 Liberty Premium Wagon.

Very nice car, how ever I have noticed the hazrd lights are not working.
I have checked the fuze and its fine and the relays for the indicators are working.

Given I am noob to Subaru's I am hesitant to start ripping this car apart.

Any advice on what to check?

Thanks
Shane

Do the indicators work on their own?

And do the lights flash when you arm/disarm the alarm?

Hi Fellas,
Firstly thanks for the replies.

The indicators works fine and yes all 4 indicators flash when the car is armed / disarmed.

Could it just be the switch-gear.

As far as I know this car is standard, bought from Sydney last week. 23 000km and stock as a rock.

I'd be looking at the fuses in the cabin (located under the mirror switch on the drivers side) and then I'd look at the fuses in the engine compartment (next to the battery). If they are all fine, I'd assume theres a problem with the hazard light switch or the circuit itself.

In all honesty though, if you only bought it last week, and if it was from a dealer, I'd be going back to them to figure it out.

Long shot, my mates old falcon had a seperate relay just for the hazards. Maybe check all the relays?

To get the button out of the dash you need to remove the gear shifter surround, ashtray, trim from the side of the headunit, and then 3 screws hold the headunit in place. Once you pull that out, the hazard button is attached to that.

Sounds like your bulbs and fuses are just fine, and the problem can be isolated to either the swtich or the relay like Michael said. If you know how to, check for continuity from switch towards the lights. But may neeed to get in behind the dash for that.

BTW: According to the manual (page 12-12), hazard light fuse is located in engine compartment fuse panel, fuse no.15

Okay guys, check continuity where the fuse goes and surprise surprise I got nothing.

I then proceeded to try and rip the dash apart and the problem is plain to see.

The dimwit who installed the blue tooth kit didnt plug the hazard light connector back in.

Now my dilema, I cant seem to get the head unit out.

I have taken the ash tray out and the plastic surround on the transmission but the stereo seems tight as on the drivers side. The passenger side is all loose.

Can some one explain how to get the head unit out?

Thanks
Shane

Guys,
I have posted some pictures, in essence the unit seems to be held in some where on the right (drivers side).

Please help me remove this head unit :)

If all the screws are out (3 per side from memory) then it should just ease forwards and out.

One screw was hidden by the dodgy install of the bluetooth unit.

Sure enough I plugged the hazard connector back in and hey bingo it worked.

I feel like ripping the connectors off the bluetooth unit and doing it properly, all held together with sticky tape.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread.

The bluetooth in my '05 was badly installed as well. If the phone rang the radio and A/C controls were disabled, so you couldn't adjust any of the A/C controls until the phone call was over. Not much good if the (noisy) fan was on flat out.

Hey all,

The other day i installed a xcarlink to my MY08 GTB which didn't seem to work, so i put everything back together and no my Hazard lights stop working.

I can confirm that indicators work, all lights flash when arming/disarming, and the hazard switch itself lights up when i illuminate the dash for night driving.

The connector that plugs into the hazard switch can also be disconnected from another socket in the back of the cavity, and can confirm there are no breakages there.

I checked the fuse which looked fine, and i also swapped it out with the Horn fuse and still doesn't work.

This might be along shot, but the only other modification i have done to the car is to swap out my front park lights to superwhite LED ones.

Im going to whack a multimeter onto the fuse terminals now to check for continuity, but in the mean time can anyone else thing of what the issue might be?

Problem Solved!

turns out one of the pins bent inside the hazard switch connector plug.

bent it back to shape and it works now.
