Remove handbrake boot?

Postby tangcla » Fri Nov 05, 2010 7:32 am

Just wondering if anyone's removed their handbrake boot off the shaft before - how do I get the handbrake handle section off?

Once you've unclipped the boot from the bottom, it stretches/slides forward over the handle. The plastic handle part doesn't actually come off.

There was a post on putting lights around the cup holders a while back, and it showed this. IIRC, its pry the very leading edge (pointy bit) of the pleather part out of the tunnel cover, then the rest will unclip, and it slides over the handle. Worked for me....

Dredging up an old topic here, but how the FAAARRKKK does one remove the handbrake boot exactly? I've managed to unclip the three clips along the top (with MUCH effort and swearing) but be buggered if I can figure out where to grasp the side section of this piece to be able to pull it up with enough force to unsnap the clips on the side (one toward the front of the vehicle, one toward the rear according to photos I've seen like this one.

This seems to be one question of many from me which matches the pattern How the bloody hell do I remove * from this tightly-bound, plastic-clip-filled Japanese vehicle?! Hopefully my pain and annoying questions help others who want the same things answered later
