Hi Guys I recently received my FRP Stanza roof spoiler from HKC-speed which i'm absolutely stoked about BUT for the life of me cant figure out how its supposed to sit on the rear glass.
I know that with the USDM one it sits on the rear window 'snug' and 3M'd between the rubber seal...

but for AUS/ JDM models is it suppose to fit /sit over the rear rubber flush against the roof? like the K2 one?

The one I received seems to sit over the rubber, flush with the roof. BUT if thats the case. how do I 3M it.???? the rear rubber on mine is more or less like the USDM one in the above photo? Can anyone please explain the difference between rear windows/rubbers of the AUS and USDM?

Hey mate

I have the K2 Gear spoiler (like the black car in the photo above) and I used 2 strips of 3M tape all the way along the spoiler and more towards the centre. They contact with the glass only and not the rubber seal of the glass.
However I can see in your pre facelift that you have a significant amount of rubber around your windscreen, on my car (post facelift) it has a very tiny bit of seal and it's flush with the glass so doesn't really sit up as high as yours.

Arith who owns the black car in the picture above told me when I installed mine to sit it almost flush with the roof of the car, and leave a very tiny gap between the roof and the spoiler so you can see a tiny bit of the black seal.

Once again though, the amount of black rubber around your window is going to be a bit of a problem I imagine...

So what I gather is that the pre facelift rear seal is like the USDM legacy, 'pronounced' and the post face-lift is 'flush'er' fitting?

Hey dude sorry I was confused, I thought the picture of the blue car in your original post was your car + roof spoiler, which is why I said the rubber seal looks different to my car.


In your *actual* photos our rubber seal is the same, so no dramas there.
I can say you have too much of a gap in your third photo (connecting to the roof) it needs to be about 2mm or so nothing more, it's just so water won't pool up in that area and make your paint look ugly if you had no gap. (or so I'm guessing)
I recommend waiting at least 24 hours before driving, and a few days before you let it get any water on it, so that it will bond properly and never come off

phew at least it seems now I have the right part lol I think I will leave it to the pros to install this one , I also need it painted and the same goes for the front spoiler and a rear wing soooooo close but no cigar just yet

Make sure you get some photos when it's painted and on

Mate don't let a body shop 'install' it for you.
The guy who wanted to install mine for me when I got it painted was telling me he would use some lacquer stuff to stick it on the windscreen for $60...no thanks.
Buy a $5 3M tape roll and stick it on yourself.
Arith has had his on for 2 years with the same 3M tape from when he first put it on, and it's still as strong as day 1, don't let someone rip you off by claiming it needs to be 'properly' installed, all that will do is fuck your glass if you ever wanted to take it off.

Also install the front lip yourself, unless you can find someone who will do it for a decent price, say $50 or less depending on how much you value your time.
Personally I would do it myself as it's an easy learning experience, and you save yourself some cash. Body shop where I took it for my boot spoiler wanted to charge $130 or something insane to install the front lip too, which I ended up doing myself and it took all of 30 minutes.

Yeah, listen to Kieran. Installing it yourself will be very easy. It should have come with some double sided tape, so just wrap that around the edge of the lip and line it up and stick on. It helps to have another person there to line up both sides at once. Not sure about the Stanza one, but there should be some sort of small gap to allow water to flow down to the rear window 'gutter'.

I might have to do that .
Also another Question, with the spoiler 'sitting' over the glass. It doesn't actually make contact with the glass, It 'sits on the rubber seal um if you know what I mean. when 'seated' like in Pic 1 it actually sitting on the seal. and the bottom half actually does not touch the glass, there is about a 1cm gap all round...

Hmm, don't think it should be seated on the seal or anything flexible/porous. For the K2, the entire bottom edge of the lip seats perfectly on the glass and only the glass.

I can't tell from the picture, but is it positioned correctly? Perhaps you should rotate it around to see if it sits better.

The Stanza is cheaper, but the styling is too 'chunky' for me. The K2 Gear one has a slimmer profile.
