There are some threads on the legacygt forums about this topic but imo the easiest thing to do would be to go buy a rwd car.

With regards to the fuse, it is intended for auto's and is only meant to be used during emergencies (eg. towing). It puts the lib into fwd mode, not rwd. This feature is in the American legacy's but not sure if we have it.

Lifted this directly from my owners manual (section 9-3):
NOTE:
If your vehicle is an AWD AT vehicle of a model other than the following models and is to be driven using the temporary spare tire, you must before driving, put a spare fuse inside the FWD connector in the main fuse box located in the engine compartment and confirm that the "AWD" warning light in the combination meter comes on. The all-wheel drive capability of the vehicle has now been deactivated. After reinstalling the conventional tire, remove the spare fuse form the FWD connector in order to reactivate all wheel drive.

The above instruction does not apply to:
- 3.0l models
- VDC equipped 2.5l models
- VDC equipped 2.0l non turbo models

Dynamic stability control

Postby Josh_07Liberty_2.5 » Mon Dec 29, 2008 8:17 pm

Thanks Resonate,
would you or anybody know if dynamic stability control can be installed on my 07 Liberty.
Apparently they came out on the 08 models as standard. once again i was told its a programing mod to the braking system.
thanks josh

So you want to disable AWD yet install DSC? Not to be rude but aren't you better off getting a Holden or something which has RWD and ESC already on the car?

Best bet would be to email Subaru's head office and ask them. I don't know of anyone who has managed to get vdc installed in their car post purchase.

IF you are going to be disabling the front drive of the car, VDC would be a complete waste of time IMO. It would have been calibrated to react according to the capabilities of the AWD setup and would be either completely confused by the goings on or react incorrectly to a bad situation but most likely both
