How to get Automatic out of gear, when battery is flat?

Postby natandja » Mon Feb 09, 2015 7:33 pm

Hi, can someone tell me how I can get my automatic gear box out of Park gear (into neutral) when the battery is flat?
Its a 2007 Liberty 2.5 GT Spec.B Automatic.
I've got no power when I put the keys in, so it wont allow me to take the cat out of park.
The front of the car is parked under some scaffolding, so I cant open the bonnet.
Thanks...

Thanks Jakey, my 07 Liberty GT Spec.B has a different cover, its a round cover & doesn't have any hole, like on your picture.
But this pointed me in the right direction, thanks.
Finally found the release, had to remove the silver trim from around the round cover, it just lifted up with a flat head screwdriver.
The release hole was under the silver trim, pushed it down, moved out of park, & jumped the car to start it again, yay.
Thanks heaps.
