Turning Off The Boost Controller

Postby Arith » Mon Feb 18, 2008 10:37 pm

Has anyone attempted to manually turn off their aftermarket boost controller? I have the HKS EVC, and was wondering what would happen if I were to turn it off?

Would it simply stop by-passing the factory controller and go back to the factory controller? Or would there simply be no boost available for the car?

Depending on how it's tuned, it will mean a less rapid boost build, and less (also not as consistent) max boost.

i drive with the EVC off during traffic. i get around 0.6-0.7bar with it off. as for driveability it is pretty bad. although with sprintbooster fitted, driving with EVC off is quite good.

If you want to run the car with it Off, Pop the bonnet and run Vac Line from wastegate to compressor housing nipple.. this will give you wastegate pressure which is the minimum boost the turbo Can make.

If you are doing it for "lowering fuel consumption in traffic" Then thats ridiculous. Keep the boost controller in and drive accordingly.
