Touch up Paint

Postby Joshy » Tue Jan 22, 2013 10:03 am

Hey all,

Considering grabbing some touchup paint in my code from Autobarn, however I have a question,

Do you need to spray a clear coat over the paint, or do they use some special mix thing which means you dont need to clear coat?

Cheers

As in touching up stone chips? No clearcoat needed IMO as the area is tiny

The paint itself needs a clear coat if you're respraying something like a grill. You use the colour coded spray pack stuff for this (or I did)
If its only touch paint you want, you get it made up in a small container so it is applied with a brush with no clear needed.

I got it in a can, not one where you give them the code and they make it on the spot, autobarn had my color code in stock, some aussie made paint in atlantic blue or something.

Its to fix a few scratches on the front of the bumper at the bottom, where I failed a 3 point turn and went down the gutter a little, bloody skinny driveways.

You should go to the parts/service section of a dealer to get touch-up paint. They have them in small bottles and they'll be your exact paint code. It's not expensive, but it is particularly handy if you have a two part paint like pearlescent or metallic.
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!
