H6 "accessory belt"?

Postby fletch2 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 7:37 pm

So after owning my 04 3.0R-B for say 2 weeks now i decided to get a quick check over from a fully qualified mechanic, he came back with a few little things on the report nothing major but one thing im questioning is he has put down "engine accessory belt is worn" can anyone please explain where this is? I'm thinking the belt on the front of the front of the engine (ribbed belt).
I can post a picture in the morning of the one im thinking if need be but any help would be awesome!

Cheers

Correct, that ribbed serpentine belt drives the front end accesories (power steering, alternator & A/C).

The h6 3.0ltr engine uses a timing chain.

Very easy fix if your reasonably handy. DOnt have to remove that much from the engine to get to it, just gotta remember how it goes on.

Ive replaced mine previously, just get the belt from subaru, and change it over. From memory it cost me about $110 for the belt.

Yeah, very easy belt to install, have done them on a wrx and 2.5RS before but just wanted to know that was the right belt that was on the list.
Best/cheapest place to buy one?

Cheers

So I rang up yesterday and they said it was somewhere around $60-70 (can't remember) does that sound right? It's quite a bit away from Matt's $110 belt?
