Re-programming a key to the car.

Hi all,
I changed a Key battery in my wifes 2004 lib and it wont work, this has happend before and I was shown by subaru ages ago but the good guy who showed me dosen't work there anymore. I dont remember exactly but you have to pull off the driver side kick panel and plug some conecter or somthing????
Does anyone know how to do it?

Funny, I changed my batteries 2 weeks ago and didn't have to re-program the key to the car. I didn't think you will need to re-program the keys each time you changed the battery? Are you sure its not some other issue?

No, for some reason that car does that. pisses me off!!!
