Replacing dashboard (gen 4)

Postby James G » Tue Nov 08, 2011 9:52 pm

Hi- I've just purchased a 2.5 NA wagon from interstate, and when I picked it up was dismayed to discover a couple of nicks out of the dashboard area above the glovebox....(I know I know, I was mad to do so without more comprehensive photos, but I thought it was a good price considering the low k's, so didn't focus on interior too much).

So anyway, everyone is wondering why I care, but personally this is the one part of my vehicle I want to be immaculate! This car replaces my previous which was 19 years old so to me this vehicle needs to be mint!

Anyone ever done this and have an idea on cost of parts and labour? I have no idea whether it is a simple operation, or given the size of the part quite complex....

Also, the clock just below the sunglass compartment seems to be dead (also measures fuel consumption I think)- I'm assuming this is a module that can be quite easily replaced but was thinking i could have it done at same time.

Any suggestions on the best kind of place to have this all done?

Thanks in advance!

James

I cant really comment on replacing the dash? I would not want to do that.
But fixing the display is quite easy if you handy with a soldering iron. Just need to open it right up, take the screen off and fixup any of the bad solders.

Post pics of the dash. It might be something a vinyl welder could fix.
