Hot damn that looks fantastic!
Nice post, I'll definitely check out that Meguiars machine polishing tool in the video, looks pretty good.
I have used that Meguiars hot rim shine that they used in the video and it really does polish the wheels very well, although I get the feeling it might be a little harsh on the GT-B rims so that's why I have only done it once. Anyone care to comment on that?

Hi Kieran,

Yes that looks fantastic.

Sadly that machine not yet arrive in Australia.

I was asking to Meguiar's Australia, they might not even release it here, since the price is up from $300 to $400 RRP.

The $300 was different from the $400. It's the G220 V1 vs. the Version 2 was much better. Greater power, cutting and also less vibration.

But on that price, it's too expensive, even the same in Indonesia. I thought it would be the same since last time, the version 1 costs $400 bucks in Indo and $300 in OZ. Now, Indo got exactly the same price as Australia which disappointing.

Anyway, if you don't want to put money too much on that machine, you can try the cheaper version of G220 V1, Kestrel DAS-6. Try find it here: http://www.waxit.com.au.

Costs $240 to your door. For me personally, this machine is really good for that price, even though less power and not really that comfortable rather than Meg's G220 V1, since the on button and speed was in the wrong place. But for that price, it is best bang for your buck.

I had the Kestrel DAS-6. If you want to look at it, can meet me up and do a bit of test if you want to. hehehe. :D

Cheers

Well using advice from this thread I purchased the meguiars clay bar kit and tried it out on the mrs car as it was in dire need of some tlc. All I can say is WOW !!! Paint is as smooth as glass now with a deep luster. I gave it a top coat of meguiars tech wax to seal it. I was skeptical at first thinking the clay would be abrasive, but not at all. I can't describe it. It's not a cut, but somehow makes the paint smooth and glass like. You'll be suprised at how much crap is collected on the clay. The good thing is that you only use half the clay so it's good for two goes.

Anyone skeptical, don't be, this product is all WIN :nyam: !!

Detailing thread- Q&A Welcome!

As you say the clay does not cut, it only removes the contaminants on your paint which makes you paint feel gritty, removing this makes it feel smooth as glass

Yep,

Clay remove contaminants, not cutting paints, since it's over the clear coat that you clean up, not below clear coat.

But hey, do share pictures here mate. So that people can see your detailing result.

Thanks

hey detailing experts,

not sure if i'm posting in right thread, didnt wanna start a new one...

im currently in the middle of washing my car as the annoying rainy weather hasn't allowed me to do a proper wash for months.. now i washed it last week and noticed there was a lot of build-up (crap, bug guts and blood) on the lower part of the driver + passenger doors and also the wheel arch sills. Normally a soap wash, dry, clay bar and wax would solve it, but these stains seemed to be caked on good... to a point where i can't even get it off if i try to scrape it off lightly with my finger nail..

so anyways last week after wash and dry, i thought nah no probs clay bar will get that right out, but it didn't. So i thought i'd leave it for a week and see if it 'loosened' up and attack it this week. So here I am, attacked it with my k'archer high pressure pump as much as i could without ruining the paint, soaped it, used my microfibre noodle wash mitt (which is normally awesome to get grime out easily) and the stains still remain.

It looks really like bug and guts splattered along bottom of door and side skirts. So my question is how to I get it out knowing I've tried what I have mentioned above?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I hate having all these blemishes esp on my white car!

Thanks in advance

WD40 seems like a good idea.

I would have thought a clay bar would fix it too, but I guess not.

Give bug and tar removal.

Clay will be useful after bug n tar.

How to use bug n tar? Spray to panel. Then leave it for 5-10 minutes, because it will like rip off the bug n tar. Then wipe it with clean towel. It will leave a bit oily mark which is normal. Then wash it using car shampoo then rinse, then you clay after drying.

All should be in good shape.

For wheel arches/fender walls, give All Purpose Cleaner and for wheels using wheel cleaner. It should give good clean up.

So far, not yet try using WD40.
