New Concours 908 DA Polisher

Just thought I would bring this to the forums attention. I have been after a quality DA polisher for over a year with a number of the affordable reputable brands (GRIOTS, Meguiars G110/220) only being available overseas. Last week I stumbled upon www.waxit.com.au. I don't know how I didn't find this before but I am in heaven. Anyway they have just updated their well known Conours 900 DA Polisher to an updated model and it is currently on pre-order sale on its own or as a kit.

There is some good discussion about the product here:
http://www.detailparadise.com.au/showth ... 8-Polisher

You can buy it here:
http://www.waxit.com.au/collections/buf ... hines-kits

I have bought the polisher kit +4 inch pads and can't wait to receive it.

Unfortunately while I have been browsing on Waxit I seem to have found another $300 worth of detailing products I am going to order myself for Christmas. The wagon is about to get treated.

Note: Home polishing isn't for everyone and unless you have the time and inclination to research the do's and dont's properly (hours and hours of reading) and the skills and discipline to back it up, probably best leaving it to the professionals. DA Polishers are designed to be safe and effective for a home user but there is still a lot to know and lot of prep to do it right or you can do more harm than good. Enjoy :).

Nice one!
I'm very taken with the Concours ptfe based polishes and sealants, could be just the ticket for my obp, parked outside wagon. That sheeting!

I LOOOVE DA's!!
Best thing i ever bought!

Mint DA's are another really good one in that price bracket. The kit comes with Menzerna polishes too which are brilliant! But you can get it with different pad and polish kits if desired.

Man I splurged bigtime. The kit I bought comes with the Scholl concepts compounds and polishes (will probably only need the nano one on the white car). But I also couldn't go past a bunch of other products of which I am most excited about the Poor Boys White Diamond glaze and Poor Boys EX Sealant. Oops, also the Concours Snow Wash :)).

Problem is I have some Meguiars Professional Compounds and Polishes (Pro Fine Cleaner/Polish, Pro Swirl Remover 2.0 and Ultimate Wax) which I am unlikely to use once I get the new products.

The ultimate wax is still a good liquid wax.. I still use it from time to time when I don't feel like using the expensive hard waxes. Sealants are great for protection but I still wax over the top of them. Sealants don't have the same shine as wax.

Alexei, it's a must for you... now your cars fast you need to make it shiney! Haha

The EX Sealant is a final coat. I did a lot of reading on Sealants/Waxes and the name doesn't mean much as they are used interchangeably as marketing term. Typically they use Sealant to describe synthetic sealants and waxes to describe natural waxes but not strictly. The Poorboys EX is a combination of polymer and Carnauba and it is a final coat. I do have some Meguiars premium Yellow Carnauba wax laying around if I am not happy with the finish ;).

The glaze I purchased needs to be sealed and that is what the EX is for, I can't wait, it has great reviews. I agree the Ultimate wax is awesome but now I have the new stuff I will use that first. The guys at Waxit are awesome. I have been so impressed with them and the Christmas rush, received all my products today from Melbourne and I only ordered some of the stuff yesterday! Because they didn't have the 500ml White Diamond Glaze, they upgraded me to the 1ltr for free as to not disappoint. I am not looking at any of it until tomorrow - Christmas - YEY!

Completely agree that hard sealants are meant to be a final coat, but wait and see how it goes in practice.
I'll be amazed if you find it as good as a wax. I've tried some very expensive sealants and I'm yet to see one that I wouldn't wax over. But I'm keen to hear how you go with yours :D

Have you ever tried hard waxes like dodo juice or swissvax? They're a whole world better than anything mergiuars make and might change your mind about waxes and sealants.

Adam are you telling me I need to spend more money? ;). I don't doubt you can get a better finish with wax and no I haven't tried expensive waxes before, the most expensive was the 'Gold Class' tub of premium yellow carbuaba from Meguiars which I have literally had for 10yrs and it actually does leave a beautiful finish and lasts for ages.

I will see how it comes up but will likely put a wax top coat on the bonnet and guards and will probably use my Meguiars Gold Class to use it up. I really want the longevity of a sealant (they say will last up to 3 times as long as wax on average). Especially in the heat of the QLD sun, the wax doesn't last so much. The great thing is, as you said you can put wax on top.

Here is a link to the goodies I just purchased :D viewtopic.php?f=57&t=28449

Haha.. well you don't have to buy anything yet... but as you've used wax a lot in the past, it will be interesting to see what you think of the sealants shine.
Either way I can't wait to see how it turns out.. pearl white looks incredible when waxed. Picture below is my old white lib that had just been polished and waxed using only mergiuars products and only hand polished.
If you do go to the effort of waxing after your sealant, try doing 2 coats of wax. Gives an exceptional finish!!!

I have heard great things about the bigfoot. That is a serious bit of kit so you must be intending on detailing some cars! Good to have in the kit bag along with a smaller throw model.

Just got a Concours for the ease of polishing- works really well, good power, not too dangerous.

Car is now 2yo and needed a bit of a spruce up as it lives outside.

Finished off with Wolf's Hard Body - (quite glossy for a sealant), mainly for the longevity factor I hope.

Have used Klasse HGS - not so glossy despite the name but it protects OK for 6 months or so, but the Wolf's HB gives a sweeter result.

Hope the durability is OK though...
